XAELYNE

Species: Dryad

Age: 316

Family: Mother- Xeliah, and sisters

Appearance: Slim and petite with a heart-shaped face, Xaelyne is often mistaken for a little girl, but muscled limbs and sparkling emerald eyes show her to be much older than her pixie-like body appears. Coppery, flower scented curls, the color of maple leaves in the fall, cascade down her back in a fiery waterfall to match a fiery personality. Her little rosebud mouth smiles at everyone and anyone, and is usually overflowing with silvery laughter. Her favorite dress is a dark green Dryad tunic and a pair of sandals.

Personality: Xaelyne is bright, self-confident, outgoing; managing to be girlish without being girlie. She is still young by the standards of her race but is not afraid to fiercely defend herself or her loved ones. She possesses an overwhelming joy for life, a compassion for all people, and weakness for chocolate. Her native Dryad society was like a sisterhood so the breakdown of power and status amongst the Alocians puzzles her.

History: Xaelyne was born the eldest daughter of the Dryad Queen Xeliah on a distant world filled with life. She lived a happy, content life in their Wood learning from her mother and her sister Dryads and prepared herself for the day when she would succeed her mother as leader of her people. Then one day strangers, more advanced than any other people they had encountered, came to claim the Wood as theirs. The Dryads fought the Alocians, but their bows and staffs and ferocity were not strong enough to stop the strangers. Rather than see the Wood felled and her people destroyed, Xeliah surrendered to Alocians and proposed an alliance: the Alocians would have safe, guided passage through the Wood if they kept it inviolate. Intrigued by the fierce, all female race of forest nymphs and pleased to have control of so much land, the Alocians agreed and as a sign of peace and good faith, the Princess Xaelyne was sent to Alocia.
