Background: Ianthe's bloodline dates all the way back to the time of the dragons. As a family, they "remember" when the shifters were like gods on earth, powerful and worshipped. Through the peoples still in their territories (the Maya, the Toltec, the Aztec, etc), the jaguars retained their status even after the witches took over. Eventually the conquistadors showed up and the Night World changed etc, etc and the shifters sunk lower on the totem pole of power, but the Olmecs still think of themselves as a noble family.
